Labour are now the underdog and Brown must fight for what he believes in if the next general election is to be won, says Sunder Katwala in a Guardian podcast.
In the wake of Labour's devastating local election results, Sunder Katwala joined Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee and Guardian leader writer Julian Glover to discuss Gordon's fightback.
Labour is still beating the Conservatives on policy, Katwala argued, but must offer voters strong Labour commitments that challenge Cameron's Conservatives to match its vision for Britain if it is to win the next general election.
A "difficult" Labour manifesto that challenged Cameron and the Conservatives could be the key to Labour's fight back, Katwala said.
