Information: Alf Dubs was appointed a Labour Working Peer in 1994. He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Northern Ireland Office from May 1997 to December 1999. Alf was MP for Battersea South and later Battersea 1979-87. From 1988-95 he was Director of the Refugee Council.

Alf has served on an Area Health Authority and more recently on a Mental Health Trust. He has been a local Councillor, Chair of the Fabian Society, Chair of Liberty, a Trustee of Action Aid, a Trustee of the Immigration Advisory Service and of a number of other voluntary organisations His interests include race relations and immigration, energy, European enlargement, transport, Ireland, human rights, penal reform, civil liberties, health, countryside issues and constitutional reform, For leisure Alf enjoys walking in the Lake District.

His publications include Lobbying: An Insider's Guide to the Parliamentary Process.

Alf has been a member of the Fabian Society for over 25 years and enjoys speaking to local groups. He is a member of Cities of London and Westminster CLP.
