Minister for the Cabinet Office

Ed Miliband was appointed minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in June 2007, as part of Gordon Brown's first Cabinet.
Prior to this, he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet Office. He has also been Chair of the All Party Group on Young People.
Mr Miliband read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and Economics at the London School of Economics. After briefly working as a television journalist, he became a speechwriter and researcher for Harriet Harman, and also for the then Shadow Chancellor Gordon Brown.
He worked for Gordon Brown again as a special adviser in the Treasury and latterly as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers. In 2003, he was a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Government at Harvard University and a Visiting Scholar at the Center for European Studies.
He was elected to Parliament in May 2005. |
