Conference

The Labour Government was elected last year on a promise of a decade of national renewal. In their first year, the government has struggled in the face of a toxic inheritance; with public services on their knees, public finances under pressure, and an economy that had stagnated.

But the public are impatient with excuses, and they are hungry for change. If we are to defeat the growing threat of the populist right, it must deliver on the promise of national renewal. That means renewing our public services, our economy, and our social contract. By doing so, we can both renew the public’s faith that government can deliver, and renew trust in politics.

The Fabian Society Conference will bring together senior ministers and leading progressive voices to discuss how – together – we can renew Britain.
