Scottish Fabians is a self-governing section of the Fabian Society, the UK’s only democratic, members-led think tank. Founded in 1884, the Society is at the forefront of developing political ideas and public policy on the left. Scottish Fabians are affiliated to the Scottish Labour Party.

Twenty years on from devolution, it is essential that Scotland has dedicated and independent public policy organisations to ensure the health of our democracy and policy making to improve outcomes for our citizens. With dedicated resource in Scotland and a board embedded in Scottish political and public life the Scottish Fabians have a huge part to play in shaping the future of progressive Scotland

The scale of the challenge for the left in Scotland demands rigorous debate and radical ideas. Scottish Fabians hope to provide a space for that debate to happen.

We organise events and conferences around Scotland, all designed to provoke debate and allow a free exchange of views. We have also published a range of ideas, both in the form of traditional Fabians printed pamphlets and as online blogs and articles.
