in partnership with Central London Forward & AELP Tuesday 29 12.30 – 13.30 The UK is one of the most centralised states among all advanced economies. In recent years, there has been some progress toward devolution, particularly over employment and skills, including control over programmes like the Adult Skills Fund, Youth Guarantee Trailblazers and Connect to Work. However, there is much more to be done.
This panel will explore how giving local leaders more powers over skills, employment and economic development can help deliver better outcomes for communities and businesses. It will consider what effective devolution looks like in practice, and how national and local government can work together to create more inclusive, locally driven growth.
