Sunday 27

14.00 – 15.00

Bluecoat Liverpool

The Labour Government’s VAWG strategies published in December 2025 set out an ambitious agenda. Ten months after publication, this is a timely moment to review whether the strategies suffice to confront the deep-rooted causes of VAWG and deliver systemic change.

This panel brings together experts to assess what has worked well and what the government should do differently. We will also examine whether the criminal justice system is equipped to deliver meaningful protection and accountability against the backdrop of an overstretched Probation Service, pressure across the criminal courts, and persistent resource constraints. How can Labour move beyond individual initiatives towards a properly joined-up, sustainable approach to preventing VAWG?

Speakers:

  • Kate Green –  Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester for Safer and Stronger Communities
  • Sarah Russell MP – Member of Parliament for Congleton; Member, Justice Select Committee
  • Dave Robertson MP – Member of Parliament for Lichfield
  • Emma Stuart – Executive Director of Criminal Justice Services, Forward Trust
  • Jessica Leung – Fabian Women’s Network
