Arts and Creative Industries Policy Unit
Our 12-month policy unit started work in November 2023 to develop evidence and policy proposals on the arts, culture and creative industries with the forthcoming general election and a new government in focus.
The Arts and Creative Industries Policy Unit, directed by Alison Cole, has been established to develop an inspiring policy agenda to influence the thinking of the Labour Party. Its work programme is steered by an advisory group chaired by Baroness Gail Rebuck, and the unit consists of a director, senior researcher and researcher (Alison Cole, Nathan Lloyd and Flora Dodd).
The unit’s policy programme is currently being developed, with projects including:
- Arts and creativity in the curriculum
- Creative industries’ contribution to economic growth
- The arts ecosystem (locally, nationally and internationally)
- New funding models for the arts
- Arms-length public bodies that support arts and culture
- Excellence and relevance
