Introducing the Fabian Councillor Network!
Labour councillors are the beating heart of our movement. They represent their communities, they translate Labour values into action in town halls across the country, and they are a campaigning force in every election.
The Fabian Councillor Network provides a dedicated space for Labour councillors to come together, to discuss big ideas, to strategise on how to take on political opponents, and to connect their local work with the wider debates across our party.
The Fabian Councillor Network helps Labour Councillors to:
  • Share what works locally, from effective campaigns, to innovative policies.
  • Debate and discuss big issues for local government, including through Councillor-led events, and opportunities to publish.
  • Ensure their voice is heard, through setting out what changes we need from central government, and meeting with senior Labour Ministers.
  • Win locally through sharing best practice in taking on opponents – from the Greens and Lib Dems to Reform – and through organising campaign days.
Launch Event – Labour Party Conference
We are delighted to be officially launching the Fabian Councillor Network at Labour Party Conference.
The launch will bring together Labour Councillors from across the country to celebrate the difference we can make in local government, and to hear from leading speakers. We will discuss what the Fabian Councillor Network can do to support Councillors to deliver for their communities, to shape our movement, and to win.

Speakers:

  • Alison McGovern MP – Minister of State for Local Government and Homelessness
  • Cllr Bev Craig –  Leader, Manchester City Council. Leader, LGA Labour Group
  • Mayor Brenda Dacres – Mayor of Lewisham
