in partnership with Trussell and Joseph Rowntree Foundation Sunday 28 20.00 – 23.00 A record 9.3 million people are experiencing severe hardship across the UK. The basic rate of Universal Credit is at its lowest level as a share of average earnings. It falls far short of protecting people from going without essentials and needing to turn to a food bank to get by. This reception will shine a spotlight on the updates needed to our social security system and its role in delivering Labour’s commitments to end the need for emergency food, tackle child poverty and raise living standards for all. Join us to hear from senior Labour politicians about what needs to come next to protect people from turning to food banks and deliver on voters’ priorities. We will also hear from people backing the Guarantee our Essentials campaign whose views have been shaped by their own experiences of hardship. Speakers to be announced |
