Local Fabians

There are over 50 local Fabian Societies across the UK. Each year members of these local societies are invited to tea in the House of Lords for a policy discussion and to celebrate the achievements from the past year.

The 2017 policy debate was ‘Towards Labour’s National Education Service’ featuring the following speakers:

Angela Rayner MP (shadow education secretary)

David Lammy MP (Tottenham)

Baroness Estelle Morris (former education secretary)

Chair: Andrew Harrop (general secretary, Fabian Society)

Following the discussion, attendees gathered for tea and refreshments on the terrace where they were addressed by Baroness Dianne Hayter and Fabian Society chair, Kate Green MP.
