The government has identified housebuilding as a central pillar of its growth agenda. But effective housing policy is not just about building more homes, it’s about ensuring new builds, developments and regeneration deliver mixed-use communities with quality amenities and thriving social capital.

This panel will consider how increased housing supply can be matched with sustainable community investment, accelerating delivery and facilitating the creation of great places to live. It will ask what more can be done to unlock brownfield land, and consider what other underused public assets present significant opportunities for place-making.

Speakers:

  • Dame Meg Hillier MP – Chair, Treasury Select Committee
  • Mike Reader MP – Member of Parliament for Northampton South; Member, Energy and Net Zero Committee
  • Paul Silver – CEO, Dorchester Living
  • Ben Cooper – Research Manager and Head of the Fabian Housing Centre, Fabian Society
  • Margaret Pinder – Member, Fabian Society Executive Committee
