Britain is facing record levels of homelessness alongside a severe shortage of genuinely affordable homes. The social contract between citizens and state is under growing strain, with access to secure, affordable housing scarcely guaranteed as a foundation for people and communities to thrive.
This panel will explore the future of social housing, considering the role of financial institutions in unlocking investment, accelerating the delivery of social and affordable homes and preventing homelessness before people reach crisis point.

Speakers:

  • Baroness Sharon Taylor – Minister for Housing and Local Government
  • Cllr Garry Bridges – Leader, Manchester City Council
  • David Cleary – Managing Director for Housing, Lloyds Banking Group
  • Matt Downie MBE – Chief Executive, Crisis
  • Kate Henderson – Chief Executive, National Housing Federation
  • Palma Oxley – Researcher – Fabian Housing Centre, Fabian Society
