On 9 October 2024, Andrew Harrop stepped down from his role as general secretary of the Fabian Society. Over his 13 year tenure, he not only steered the organisation’s overall direction and strategy, but published many reports on crucial policy areas. A selection of his publications can be read below.

In ‘Support Guaranteed’, Andrew laid the groundwork for a National Care Service, highlighting essential areas for reform.

‘Plans for Power’ brought together the most important pre-election ideas from the Fabian Society.

‘Going Public’ presents a positive agenda for the future of public services based on three interlocking principles.

‘In Time of Need’ lays out a new income replacement framework known as British National Insurance.

In ‘For Us All’, Andrew made the case for a fairer, well designed social security system for non pensioners

Andrew championed a universal welfare system that aligns the interests of low, middle, and high-income groups in ‘The Coalition and Univeralism’.
