Healthy Britain: A new approach to health and wellbeing policy

Share

The evidence is overwhelming: health and wellbeing are not just desirable outcomes in and of themselves, but essential components of a programme for growth, productivity, national renewal and opportunity for all.

In this new report, Kim Leadbeater MP makes the case for a new approach to government which will centre the health and wellbeing of the population. Just as we evaluate policy through a ‘green lens’, so too we should use a ‘health and wellbeing lens’, and every sector of our government and society must be involved.

By adopting a comprehensive strategy towards improving the health and wellbeing of the country and its citizens, Labour can offer a fresh and positive vision for Britain’s future. A future where not every problem is answered simply by throwing more money at it; where prevention and early intervention take priority; and where investing time, energy and resources in people’s health and wellbeing helps them as individuals, supports families, communities and businesses, and helps us all become more prosperous, more productive and happier.
