Where's the Harm?
Gambling is often seen as just another part of our cultural – and indeed physical – landscape. Our high streets host gambling shops, our sports teams advertise gambling companies, and our digital world offers us unlimited gambling options. Yet gambling is responsible for profound personal and societal harms – not least in terms of health.
In this pamphlet, Dr Beccy Cooper MP makes the case for a fundamental shift in how we understand and respond to gambling in the UK, calling for a public health approach to gambling which prioritises prevention, regulation, and population-level protection. In doing so, she sets out a roadmap to a system which places people’s health and wellbeing ahead of corporate profit.
